SUMMARY:Open Classroom Observations (Via Zoom)Synchronous sessions of the Interprofessional Education Programme in LKS Faculty of Medicine
DESCRIPTION:Other Sessions:\n9:00 – 11:00 am April 10 (Sat)\n9:00 – 11:00 am April 24 (Sat)\nNote: Colleagues are welcome to observe any one or all of the above sessions. Please refer to the course plan ( https://www.ipe.hku.hk/ipe-2021-schedule ) for how the sessions are designed and connected with other asynchronous sessions. There will be a short briefing after each session conducted by the course teacher to share why the sessions are facilitated in such ways.\nCourse title: Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice (IPECP)\nInterprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice (IPECP) is a large-scale cross-faculty and cross-programme initiative in HKU participated in by students from Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine (ChiMed\, MBBS\, Nursing\, Phar)\, Faculty of Education (Speech and Hearing Sciences)\, and Faculty of Social Sciences (Social Work and Clinical Psychology). The programme is designed to breakdown silos in education\, allow the students to engage in collaborative practice and to reduce power-hierarchies and avoidable medical errors by enabling the students to learn with\, about\, and from each other to provide patient-centered care. The desirable skill set includes respectful and effective communication\, collaborative decision making\, negotiation and respect\, teamwork and collaboration\, application of shared decision-making process model\, and recognition of difference and diversity. \nPurpose of the Sessions\nWith transition of IPECP training from face-to-face to online\, the daunting task for the teaching team is to adapt the programme to online delivery\, suggesting the need to develop a pedagogy with strong support of technology. In this project\, observers will get to know the logistics of implementing a large-scale “Ten-day Asynchronous and Synchronous Online IPE” consisting of two important parts: Asynchronous (Preparation 2 days\, Readiness Assurance 3 days\, Application Exercise 4 days) and Synchronous (2 hours) Phases. This programme is in coordination with CETL and TELI. \nBiography of the Teacher\nDr. Fraide A. Ganotice is a senior lecturer at BIMHSE\, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine. He is the programme coordinator of Interprofessional Education and he is currently implementing a TDG project entitled “Finetuning the application exercise and facilitation strategies of interprofessional education” for which he is the principal investigator.
